Thinking of different techniques and media to create illustrations, and how to use illustrator to show different views and colours. argh pattern cutting thursday but remembered how to do dart manipulation 1 step handled :).

IT with steve making promotion material for the logos made has given me the skill to use illustrator to create a professional presentaion of my designs.

Yesterday I was way to excited about the new cultural design project love it! I want to make myself approach it in a way to design with influences of current trends it will be good to work on this. PPRD today also got me thinking more about involving current and upcoming trends rather than just designing on other research. I can see how the IT links to deign and its good to keep practicing as things like this are easy to forget, I need to practice it myself at home/uni instead of just hand drawing.

Learning how to use the seam samples in garment construction was a great skill especially making us think why certain seams etc would be used in a garment design. it has given me a new way to think about design linked with construction other than just initial ideas.

Second Illustrator lesson for the week and we used the text tool fun times. There is not much more I can really say.... OH and a CLOCK!

Todays IT lesson went well remembered more than I thought of illustrator panic over about being the most special with computers in the class. I made shapes :)

Last week I found it easy to get behind in the construction and pattern cutting days, its only small parts but they add up im sure ill catch up soon though. Really liked to get stuck onto the white and black sculpture project making that was a challenge with all that stupid paper and pins!

The black and white sculpture project is different using card and fabrics for structures. I was ill last friday and missed the drape lesson which I am struggling to catch up on, especially as its completely new to me.

I found last week interesting looking at everyones summer projects and how everyone has a different background. It was good to hear ideas of improvement for them as well.

I learnt mainly about folding back the patterns for a sleeve turn up and realised I have to learn to be more precise in my work :s. I was happy to hear we were creating moodboards on Monday, because I enjoy the design side of fashion and you have more freedom (don't have to be as neat).

Today was the construction which was interesting as it jogged my memory from doing these samples at school but very different and difficult with the industrial machines, frustrating! Again I have to be so neat, I will definitly be doing them again.

With he IT lessons in general I knew I would struggle but seeing the link with design should spur me on to keep up. I managed to make people shapes! and lots of perty colours. Hopefully get a laptop to catch up lessons if my loan ever comes through!

my first blog

I have never written a blog before! Looking back to last week, I learnt how hands on the course will be and how much it involves the practical side of the fashion world which is brilliant. Going to the BU pirate party was fun, it was cool meeting people from other courses as well.
